Side Control Escape — Tight Waist Pass

Used when you have inside frames and need to reverse position. The core mechanism involves building vertical height by elbow-proping your own elbow, then stepping through to control the hips and shoulders.

  1. 1Establish inside frames, using a self-frame on the chest if an underhook is unavailable.3:00
  2. 2Pull knees to chest and shift the opponent side-to-side to find openings.4:00
  3. 3Gain the near-side underhook and send the opponent high.5:00
  4. 4Build height by turning your left hip over to your right and elbow-proping your own elbow.6:00
  5. 5Step between the opponent's legs and grip the front of their collar.7:00
  6. 6Limp out by turning your thumb down and touching your back pocket.8:00
  7. 7Cover the hips and secure top side control.9:00
