Straight Ankle Lock

Used from Ashi Garami when the opponent is posturing or trying to escape. The mechanism relies on pinning the opponent's arm to their hip to prevent framing, blocking their far hip with your heel, and rolling your forearm into the Achilles tendon for leverage.

  1. 1Pull the opponent's arm across their center line and pin their forearm to their hips.1:49

  3. 3Pin the opponent's leg into the inner portion of your leg with your elbow.1:58
  4. 4Push down on the opponent's knee with your opposite hand to break their guard.2:02
  5. 5Replace your elbow with your hand and fall down to the side.2:06
  6. 6Place your foot underneath the opponent's thigh and block their hip with your heel.2:12
